Michele Bachmann wins Ames Straw Poll

The Ames Straw poll is a test of a candidate’s organizational skills to get voters to the polls.

As such, it’s a nice feather in the cap for Bachmann as she continues to make her mark as a heavy hitter in the field of GOP candidates.

The Huffington Post

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann emerged the winner in the widely-anticipated Ames Straw Poll in Iowa on Saturday.

The conservative congresswoman came out on top in the event with 4,823 votes. U.S. Rep. Ron Paul came in second place. Here's a breakdown of the results:

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.): 4,823 votes

U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas): 4,671 votes

Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty: 2,293 votes

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.): 1,657 votes

Former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain: 1,456 votes

Texas Governor Rick Perry: 718 votes

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney: 567 votes

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich: 385 votes

Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman: 69 votes

U.S. Rep Thad McCotter (R-Mich.): 35 votes

Romney, Gingrich and Huntsman didn't not actively campaign for support in the straw poll despite their names appearing on the ballot.

Perry, who announced his candidacy for president on Saturday, did not aggressively look to lock up votes in the event. His name did not appear on the ballot; however, write-in votes were allowed in the straw poll.

BUMPED: Obama’s worst nightmare comes true! Rick Perry Enters G.O.P. Race for President

This is the big one!

Rick Perry entering the race for the GOP nomination makes an already formidable field of candidates that much stronger.

Whoever emerges the eventual winner will be the person to return the country back to sanity and away from the radical Liberal/Progressive agenda that has the country on the verge of bankruptcy.

I equate this to when a already good baseball gets that last piece of the puzzle and it improves the rest of the lineup overnight.

Romney, Backmann, Cain and the others all have to step up their games and that’s a very good thing.

New York Times

Gov.
Rick Perry of Texas announced Saturday that he was running for president, declaring it was “time to get America working again” as he sought to offer the Republican Party a well-rounded candidate who appeals to fiscal conservatives and can also rally the evangelical base.

As many of his fellow candidates flooded Iowa over the weekend to woo voters at the Ames Straw Poll, Mr. Perry headed here to announce that he was seeking the nomination at the
RedState Gathering, an annual convention of conservative bloggers.

“I came to South Carolina because I will not sit back and accept the path that America is on, because a great country requires a better direction, because a renewed nation needs a new president,” he said.

“With the support of my family and unwavering belief in the goodness of America, I declare to you today as a candidate for president of the United States.”

And with that, Mr. Perry, 61, whose spectral presence has lingered over the Republican primary contest — he was even the topic of a question at Thursday night’s Republican debate in Iowa — officially became a candidate for the Republican nomination.

Mr. Perry’s entrance into an already crowded field is expected to reconfigure the dynamics of the race, offering Republicans a fiscal and social conservative who not only appeals to the party’s base but can also challenge Mitt Romney, who is leading in many polls, on jobs and the economy.

Panic at White House: Top Obama mouthpiece attacks Rick Perry before he announced running

There’s an old deodorant commercial that said, “Never let see you sweat!”

That’s exactly what the White House has done by dispatching David “I love Saul Alinsky” Axelrod to attack Texas Gov Rick Perry a day before he even announces. Can you see the beads of sweat on Obama’s face?

The smart move would have been not to react at all and treat Perry’s announcement as just another guy running for president. But, as is the case with the Obama presidency, it’s been Amateur Hour at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue since January 20, 2008.

Big Government.com

US President
Barack Obama's top reelection strategist charged Friday that Republican White House hopeful and Texas Governor Rick Perry had "very little to do" with his state's economic success.

"There's a specific reason that
Texas has done so well, and that's because the oil industry has done so well in the last few years, and the military has grown because of the challenges that we have had overseas," said David Axelrod.

"And so he's been the beneficiary of things that he had very little to do with," Axelrod told ABC television.

The preemptive strike came one day before
Perry, who succeeded George W. Bush in the Texas governor's mansion in 2000, was to formally launch his bid for the Republican nomination to take on Obama in the November 2012 elections.

Perry, campaigning for months in all but name, has been touting his home state's growth and jobs creation over the past decade at a time when the sour national economy and its 9.1 percent unemployment rate are voters' top worry.

"I am a pro-business governor. I will be a pro-business president,"
Perry told Time magazine in an interview released Thursday, highlighting his opposition to taxes and regulation.

Rude Fag CNN reporter gets elbowed by 2 sexy blonde Bachmann staffers

If CNN is trying to spin this report as an embarrassing moment for the Bachmann campaign, then I feel it’s only fair to spin it another way.

Report-A rude reporter of questionable sexual orientation tried to bogart his way in front on Rep Michele Bachmann (R-Mn) who is seeking the GOP nomination for president.

Two extremely attractive blonde female staffers cleared a path for Bachmann and sent Mr. Rude CNN reporter almost flying into a pile of discarded Pork Chops on a stick.

The reporter said he didn’t need to go to the hospital.

BUMPED UPDATEDVideo: Michele Bachmann gets the better of Tim Pawlenty at Iowa GOP debate 8-11-11 Bachmann vs Pawlenty

These fireworks between Bachmann and Pawlenty shows that Bachmann is very strong debater. Pawlenty really looked weak in my opinion.

I think Bachmann did more than hold her own and she has more balls than John Beohner and Eric cantor combined.

Mediaite

Perhaps the most heated exchanges of tonight’s Fox News debate happened 20 minutes into the show, and, shockingly enough, it involved some sharp barbs from typically placid Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty. Moderator Chris Wallace, perhaps noting that Iowa was Pawlenty’s to lose to Rep. Michele Bachmann, turned the two against each other, resulting in an exchange where Rep. Bachmann called Pawlenty “a lot like President Obama,” only to have her “record of misstating and making false statements” thrown back at her.

Wisconsin GOP holds off Democrats in recall elections

The voters of Wisconsin have once again spoken! They don’t want greedy public sector unions bleeding them dry with their bloated benefit packages while the public at large struggles.

This is a victory for the tax payers and the union better recognize it’s a new day!

Big Government.com

Republicans held onto control of the Wisconsin Senate on Tuesday, beating back four Democratic challengers in a recall election despite an intense political backlash against GOP support for Gov. Scott Walker's effort to curb public employees' union rights.

Fueled by millions of dollars from national labor groups, the attempt to remove GOP incumbents served as both a referendum on Walker's conservative revolution and could provide a new gauge of the public mood less than a year after Republicans made sweeping gains in this state and many others.

Two Democratic incumbents face recalls next week, but even if Democrats win those they will still be in the minority.

Turnout was strong in the morning and steady in the afternoon in communities such as Whitefish Bay, Menomonee Falls and Shorewood, where Sen. Alberta Darling was one of the four Republicans to hold onto her seat.

Tony Spencer, a 36-year-old laid-off carpenter from Shorewood, voted for Darling's challenger, Democratic state Rep. Sandy Pasch.

"I'm in a private union, so they haven't necessarily come after me," Spencer said. "But everybody should have the right to be in a union. I came out to stop all the union-bashing stuff."

John Gill, 45, of Menomonee Falls, voted for Darling and questioned the opposition's anti-GOP rhetoric, which went far beyond collective bargaining.

"This was all supposed to be about the workers' rights, so to speak. But that has not been brought up one time. It's all been misleading, the attack ads, things like that," Gill said. "The one reason they started this recall, they didn't bring up once."

Obama’s horrifyingly bad speech-nobody buys what he has to say anymore

The stock market went down another 200 points after Obama’s speech yesterday. At this point in his presidency, the people aren’t memorized and see him for what he is-a media myth that never was!

The Washington Post

He was a half hour late. His head turned from side to side as if he were attending a tennis match. He practically never looked in the camera, as if he were averting our gaze. And those were the strong parts of President Obama’s disastrous speech.

It was a bit like a slow-motion car crash. After a while, one stopped listening to the blather and simply watched the stock ticker go down and down. And down some more.

Obama had all weekend and the best he could come up with was a reiteration of his plea for a “balanced” approach to deficit control. That’s right. We have a tumbling stock market, over 9 percent unemployment and a flight to gold (some investment advisers say it will be at $2,500 per ounce by year’s end). All he can do is promise to raise taxes.

Now that’s not exactly right. He did trot our proposals for a one-year extension of the payroll tax cut and extension of unemployment benefits. And he promised to make his own proposal to the debt committee. That’s it. It is what he has been saying for what seems like forever. He has nothing new.

Conservatives' fury at 'conspiracy' to discredit Michele Bachmann as Newsweek publishes 'crazy eyes' cover

You see how the Left is so afraid of Michele Bachmann? This cheap shot is an indication that Bachmann is scoring huge points with the public.

Otherwise why the attack?

Newswee was recently sold for a $1. That pretty much says it all.

Go Michele Go!!!

Daily Mail

Conservative commentators today attacked what they call a conspiracy among the liberal media to try to discredit Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann.

The outrage follows the latest cover of Newsweek featuring a huge photo of a wild-eyed Mrs Bachmann.

The headline advertising the magazine's story reads The Queen of Rage.

Fox News Channel contributor and conservative blogger Michelle Malkin wrote on Monday: 'Seriously, Tina Brown? Yes, I’m talking about you, Oxford University-educated Newsweek/Daily Beast editor Tina Brown.

'You’ve resorted to recycling bottom-of-the-barrel moonbat photo cliches about conservative female public figures and their enraged “crazy eyes?” Really?'

'No doubt the editors and photog will deny doing anything to make Bachmann look bad.'

Greenspan aggress with Michele Bachmann: Debt ceiling didn’t have to be raised

Michele Bachmann voted against raising the debt limit and took heat for it. Her position was the most sound because when the country is already $14 trillion in the hole, you don’t keep digging the hole deeper.

Establishment GOPers were too timid to see the logic in this thinking because they were afraid of the media blaming them for a default that was never going to happen.

That’s why she’s a real leader and most of these jackasses aren’t.

"The United States can pay any debt it has because we can always print money to do that. So there is zero probability of default" said Greenspan on NBC's Meet the Press.

Do You Want Al Sharpton to Have His Own MSNBC Show? Black Journalists Don’t

I think I’m the only blogger that wrote about Al Sharpton having his own show on MSNBC a month ago. So, you other guys are a bit late.

Having said that, the only reason Sharpton is on MSNBC is for Obama’s push to get the black vote over 95%.

All Al has tp do is say the GOP are a bunch of racists 24/7 two before the election and that will be enough to get black folks in-line.

The Blaze

Last month we brought you this story about a report that Rev. Al Sharpton was headed for his own MSNBC show.

Although no official announcement has been made, the rumors that the network is on the verge of hiring Sharpton have persisted, particularly as Sharpton continues to fill Cenk Uygur’s recently vacated slot. But according to Eric Deggans, a media critic for the St. Petersburg Times and chapter president of the National Association of Black Journalists, some of those in the field are not happy with the idea.

Top Alinsky-ite David Axelrod refuses to believe facts: Downgrade 100% Obama’s fault

David Axelrod, fellow Chicagoan and Saul Alinsky devote who believes in wealth re-distribution just like his buddy Barack Obama, took to the airwaves to deflect blame from his former boss.

It was a shameful and dishonest display of misinformation and unaccountability.

Axelrod learned from Alinsky to always divert attention away from the facts and demonize somebody else. That’s why the Tea Party has to be the latest “monsters” to be afraid of so Democrats can come to the rescue.

The Hill

Top Obama strategist
David Axelrod criticized Republicans over their handling of the debt-ceiling negotiations which he argued led to Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade the nation’s credit rating Friday.

This was a “tea party downgrade,” said Axelrod on CBS News’ Face the Nation.

Axelrod said S&P’s decision was “largely a political analysis.” “And that's what we should focus on because what they were saying is they want to see the political system work. They want to see a sense of compromise.

He also likes porn movies and cited "Deep Throat" as a favorite. And McMillan doesn't care what you think of that, saying, "It's none of your business what I like and don't like."

The Left is afraid of Rick Perry because they’re essentially Godless people-Rick Perry prayer rally in Houston

That’s right I said it!

Progressive/Liberals only pay lip service to matters of faith. That’s why they’re the people who champion all forms of debauchery know to man.

Morally, they’re a bunch of empty vessels who only worship mother government when they’re not smoking weed, having sex with the same sex, and contemplating the wisdom of Ezra Klein and Paul Krugman.

CBS News

Rick Perry is taking a lot of heat over the big prayer rally he's hosting in Houston today, due to the controversial nature of several scheduled speakers and questions about whether the event crosses the separation of church and state line.

But Dallas Morning News Senior Political Correspondent Wayne Slater says the Texas governor, widely viewed as a likely Republican presidential candidate, actually has his eye on evangelical voters in other states, and on one already-announced candidate in particular - Iowa Rep. Michele Bachmann.

Slater told CBS News Congressional Correspondent and fill-in "Early Show on Saturday Morning" co-anchor Nancy Cordes there are two ways to look at the flack Perry's getting over the rally.

"It's his event," Slater said. "He's conceived of it. He's convening it. The people associated with it, in one way or other, many have exotic religious views, so it's perfectly fair to attribute some of this to Rick Perry.

"On the other hand, he said, rightly, he doesn't share the same religious views of everybody associated with this, and that everybody can agree, he says, on the commitment of prayer -- at least almost everybody."

Rick Santelli Gives MSNBC Guest Ezra Klein a Lesson in Economics on Live TV

For some reason Liberals/Progressives hold up Ezra Klein as if he’s a combination Yoda and the Dalai Lama. They hang on every word he says as if it was coming from the Burning Bush.

However, he doesn’t know anything about anything other than to regurgitate the same old templates of Liberalism.

He’s a master of academic theory that plays well in the faculty lounges of Harvard and Yale.

But, when it comes to real world, he doesn’t know shit!

The Blaze

Rick Santelli, the man who’s 2009 firebrand speech on government spending is considered a seminal moment in the Tea Party’s founding, gave MSNBC analyst and Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein a stern lesson in free markets on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday morning.
Klein made some assertions about the financial crisis, including that most people agree two economists he cited have “done the best work on financial crises,“ and then offered up that the role of the Federal Reserve is ”often overlooked.”

Klein continued on and quoted one of his favorite economists calling for another ”round of significant inflation,“ and then asked Santelli to respond to the assumption that a recession would cause money to move around in a way that is ”unfair.”

United States loses AAA credit rating from S&P, Thank You Barack Obama

For the first time in American history, thanks in huge part to the incompetence of the most ill equipped man ever to be elected president, the United States has lost its AAA credit rating.

President Barack Obama has led this country on a downward spiral with his “spread the wealth” mentality that seek to punish those that are successful with higher and higher taxes and rewards the sluggards in our society (aka Obama’s base) with free cells phones and food stamps.

With Obama, its take from the “Haves” and give it to the “Have Nots”. That’s what he believes in according to his mentor Saul Alinsky. And Obama is doing just that to destroy the country, by design, to remake it into a socialist’s paradise with big government picking up the pieces.

Mission accomplished, Mr. President!

Reuters

The United States lost its top-notch AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's on Friday in an unprecedented reversal of fortune for the world's largest
economy.

S&P cut the long-term U.S. credit rating by one notch to AA-plus on concerns about the government's budget deficits and rising debt burden. The move is likely to raise borrowing costs eventually for the American government, companies and consumers.

"The downgrade reflects our opinion that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration recently agreed to falls short of what, in our view, would be necessary to stabilize the government's medium-term debt dynamics," S&P said in a statement.

The decision follows a fierce political battle in Congress over cutting spending and raising taxes to reduce the government's debt burden and allow its statutory borrowing limit to be raised.

On August 2, President Barack Obama signed legislation designed to reduce the fiscal deficit by $2.1 trillion over 10 years. But that was well short of the $4 trillion in savings S&P had called for as a good "down payment" on fixing America's finances.

The White House maintained silence in the immediate aftermath of S&P downgrade.

The political gridlock in Washington and the failure to seriously address U.S. long-term fiscal problems came against the backdrop of slowing U.S. economic growth and led to the worst week in the U.S. stock market in two years.

The S&P 500 stock index fell 10.8 percent in the past 10 trading days on concerns that the U.S. economy may head into another recession and because the European debt crisis has been growing worse as it spreads to
Italy.

U.S. Treasury bonds, once undisputedly seen as the safest security in the world, are now rated lower than bonds issued by countries such as Britain, Germany,
France or Canada.

'DAUNTING' IMPLICATIONS

As the focus for investors shifted from the debate in Washington to the outlook for the global economy, even with the prospect of a downgrade, 30-year long
bonds had their best week since December 2008 during the depth of the financial crisis.

Yields on 10-year notes, a benchmark for borrowing rates throughout the economy fell as far as 2.34 percent on Friday -- their lowest since October 2010 -- also very low by historical standards.

"To some extent, I would expect when Tokyo opens on Sunday, that we will see an initial knee-jerk sell-off (in Treasuries) followed by a rally," said Ian Lyngen, senior government bond strategist at CRT Capital Group in Stamford, Connecticut.

Stocks Dow Down 500: Should Obama Resign?

Normally I would say Hell Yes! But, then we would have Joe Biden as president.

Obama has been exposed as the biggest fraud in American politics. The only reason he’s in office is because the media made it happen by ignoring his socialist background, ignored that he attended an anti-American church for 20 years, and that he’s never run any kind of business or been a chief executive.

What’s happening now is no surprise to me and other conservatives that warned the country that this Chicago community organizer was a joke!

Pajamas Media

The
worldwide market plunge since the signing of the U.S. debt agreement tells us one thing above all: Almost no one on the planet has confidence in the leadership of Barack Obama.

A CEO with such a disastrous first three years as our president has had probably would already have been called upon to resign or been pushed out by his company’s board of directors — more than likely for some time.

Obama has failed in virtually every direction, foreign and domestic. His policies indeed are almost non-existent. He is completely rudderless, unless you accept the view that he is following the prescription of
Cloward-Piven and has set out to destroy American capitalism from within.

If that is so — and I don’t really accept it for a variety of reasons — he has failed even at that, because his reelection becomes less likely with every passing day. A Cloward-Piven strategy could not be successful in only four years. America is far too strong for that. In the case of Obama, his policies are leading to something quite the opposite — an epic disaster for the Democratic Party and (modern) liberalism in 2012
